The start of the trip

So a couple of days ago I took a plane to one of my favourite cities, Minneapolis. I might be biased, this is where I went to undergrad...

Anyway, I started the day with some reggae

Took a train

Then waited for a bus

Found some cows at the airport... Thought I was in Chicago for awhile...

Then got bored waiting for the plane.

The story continues tomorrow~

Another Beautiful day from Somerville.

Gotta love living here. Everything one might like is at most a T-ride away, and it's beautiful!

Love Love Love my new Camera

I love my new Nikon V1! It's been a blast to shoot with. I do wish that they had a better layout of the manual vs aperture priority vs ect... However after working with it for about a week or so, the other cool stuff it does makes up for this!

Just a few days till heading to the midwest

I haven't been back to MN in about a year, it'll be good to see it again. In the mean time, I'm going to continue to enjoy spring here in Somerville.

More Flowers from Somerville

Have a great weekend everyone! I hope your week went well.

Gotta love flowers

There is just so much colour out in the world at the moment. I keep trying to take photos of people and places, but I get stuck taking photos of the beautiful flowers all over the neighbourhood. Not a bad predicament! Hope you enjoy them.

Spring in Boston 2012

Spring has been here in Boston for at least a month. Really most of that time has felt like summer!

The flowers are in full bloom!

Slow Mo Falling...

Here is the slow mo  video I promised earlier. Falling during skating practice. We all thought falling looked funny in slow mo, but perhaps you might find it boring. Doesn't matter, I had fun making it. Same Skaters Katie and Jess but this time the music is O Fortuna from Carmina Burana by Carl Orff. It seemed fitting.

I hope you have a laugh, cuz we sure did.

Another Slow Mo will be coming, but before that...

I am now an Auntie and will have pics in a few weeks of my first nephew. In the mean time a splash of colour for the bright baby boy!

Slow Motion Skating

I've been having way too much fun with the new camera. The other day I took it to the rink and got some friends skating, plan to do that again tomorrow, but here's what I've got thus far.

After a couple of weeks of amazing weather here in Boston, we've now had two days of rain. Perfect time to go back through all the photos I've taken this last week. Here are just a few.

Outside of Bull McCabes. If you are ever in Boston, head over to Union Square in Somerville. This is a tiny tiny pub, but it serves the best bar food I've had.

Cambridge from Mass Ave heading towards ITAMP

In Cambridge again. School was just about to let out and you could tell the puppy was just sitting around people watching hoping to see the kiddies soon.

The thesis is submitted and I have a new Camera

The thesis is finally submitted and I just have to wait to hear back from the reviewers (3 - 6 months) but in the mean time I have a new camera. And this camera is amazing. It's the Nikon V1 and not only are the photos gorgeous, but it takes slow motion video (only 5 seconds at a time, which translates to something like a min. and a half viewing time).

Anyway here are some pics and a flick from around the Somerville area.

And here is the "Slow Mo - H2O
 Just down the street...
 Davis Square, Somerville MA
Outside of the Apartment. Beautiful Spring (but it felt like summer) day.

Getting ready for AGU

In about a weeks time I'm going to San Fran (hopefully I'll get some good pics). There is a huge conference for Earth-Space science going on. Today I finally finally finally got some new and interesting results, or at least I hope they are interesting. I really hate coding, especially in a new code (just starting to learn python). Anyway I need a coding break, so I thought I'd put up a few more pics from this fall. I hope you enjoy!

I think once I get this code working and the plots all out, I might have to take a trip to The Thirsty Scholar, because I'll be one scholar in need of a drink.

I think this is Harvard... but I can't remember

Okay I know it is, but since I haven't been able to walk through Harvard Yard in a while I thought I might post some photos to remember what it is that we're not being allowed to see.

The wonderful T.

Having traveled a bit and living in multiple places, I have to say I love the T. I wish that all cities in the US had public transportation like Boston. For us it means that we don't need to have a car, no car insurance, and no parking spaces. This way we also get a bit more exercise as it's easier to walk to most places.

Lazy Black Friday

So we protested Black Friday in the best way possible. We sat in old clothes and ate left overs, made bread from scratch and read used and or library books... Okay so that is the plan for most days off anyway.

I also spent the day going through some older photos and found a bunch from T's and trains. I hope you had a successful and safe Black Friday and that there were delicious leftovers aplenty.

Photos from America's First Public Beach

Although the hour long train ride was to try to get health care, I of course brought my camera and got some photos. I did not know this but the T stop at Ocean Beach on the blue line is right next to America's first public beach. It was a cloudy day and not in a good way. The whole sky was overcast and grey, but I think I still got a few good photos out of it.
